Jonny Greenwood ha compuesto los scores de incontables películas de Paul Thomas Anderson, entre ellas There Will Be Blood, The Master y mas recientemente Inherent Vice. Ahora, ambos se encuentran colaborando, pero esta vez Greenwood será el foco de atención de Anderson.

Como lo reporta The New York Times, la próxima cinta del director Junun, es un documental -que dura una hora- que sigue el proceso creativo y de grabación del nuevo álbum solista de de Greenwood el cual aun no tiene un titulo oficial. A principios del año el guitarrista de Radiohead revelo que se encontraba grabando un larga duración en India con el compositor israelí Shye Ben Tzu, ademas de varios músicos locales.

Hemos estado viviendo aquí por casi tres semanas y grabando el álbum aquí en Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, dijo Greenwood. El Maharaja nos permitió usar el fuerte y básicamente hemos estado viviendo con 12 músicos indues y grabando el disco. Ha sido increíble trabajar con ellos, añadió. Es diferente; hay música por todas partes. Como cuando tocamos, grabamos o ensayamos con estos musicos, cuando ellos toman el break, ellos van y tocan aun mas. Eso no pasa en Reino Unido.

Earlier this year, Paul Thomas Anderson joined his close friend and collaborator Jonny Greenwood on a trip to Rajasthan in northwest India, where they were hosted by the Maharaja of Jodhpur, and he brought his camera with him. Their destination was the 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort, where Greenwood (with the help of Radiohead engineer Nigel Godrich) was recording an album with Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur and an amazing group of musicians: Aamir Bhiyani, Soheb Bhiyani, Ajaj Damami, Sabir Damami, Hazmat, and Bhanwaru Khan on brass; Ehtisham Khan Ajmeri, Nihal Khan, Nathu Lal Solanki, Narsi Lal Solanki, and Chugge Khan on percussion; Zaki Ali Qawwal, Zakir Ali Qawwal, Afshana Khan, Razia Sultan, Gufran Ali, and Shazib Ali on vocals; and Dara Khan and Asin Khan on strings. The finished film, just under an hour, is pure magic. Junun lives and breathes music, music-making, and the close camaraderie of artistic collaboration. It’s a lovely impressionistic mosaic and a one-of-a-kind sonic experience: the music will blow your mind.
